Matthew Blakey 1996 - 2026

I, Matthew, have been battling depression for many years, from a very young age to the present day.

​

My job didn’t help this with the constant pressure to entertain, put on a smile, the long nights, unsociable hours and the constant loneliness.

​

But music was my passion. Being behind the DJ decks was me, my way to express my feelings and escape my reality of sadness, but also gain acceptance.

​

There were many reasons why I made the decision to let go, but the main reason was that I never truly understood myself, and I never learned to love myself.

 

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who booked me to entertain, or came to see me perform or supported me with a share.

I appreciate you!

 

To the DJs I met along the way, keep your chins up, back up your laptops and keep on raving!
